So are thumbnails of gallery images a thing of the past? Is that a vbulletin thing or is it a decision of the staff?
Just curious. Thanks :icon_cyclops:

Looks like a VBulletin thing.
I don't think we should get rid of thumbnails yet.

Well the old,old R'otica had full image previews and I can remember the screaming when it switched over to thumbnail previews.
The problems with thumbnails are people being less than honest in their use and using the same thumb for multiple images.

what about the thumbnails in the animation department?
hopefully those black things are just temporary.
otherwise, outstanding so far

I have to admit, if thumbnails are feasible with the software I wouldn't mind seeing that as an option, ie allowing the software to autogenerate a thumbnail as it is now, or uploading one we make.
Not a major complaint, IMHO, but it'd be a cool option.

I concur. A thumbnail option would be quite useful, and quite necessary, in the animation section at least.

The new systems is going to reduce hits. I find that now I can see it all in the thumbnail I click to see the full image less often.

yea... cons and pros, as usual.
but so long individual identity (artist who had a particular thumbnail style)
so long suspense and tease.
hello google imege search result genetic, dull, uneventfull....
and ur right ChasC u didn't even bother opening most of the pictures, let alone leave a coment or a rating.
what's true for the individual is true for the group.
it would be interesting to see, if the 'rotican gods would grant the option of using a thumbnail, how many artists would take advantage of it.

I'm kinda glad I dont have to make them.... however, after 2 pages of tits in my face, being a girl, it is starting to wear on my nerves. I am torn here. :icon_silent:

Well if the idiots who abuse the thumbnails can be punished for doing so I have no objections to restoring that option.
I'd really like thumbnails back.
Or at least the choice.

I only used the same thumbs for series work, but I favor the the Auto Thumb option.. I remember when Rotica had self generating thumbs and they were quite small in comparison to what we have now..

Personally, I liked making my own thumbnails. I'd like to see their return.
BTW, does anyone know how I can change the 'virgin' thing under my name. I haven't been a virgin since I turned 30!!

I may be wrong but I believe after you have responded to a certain number of forum posts you eventually lose your virginity...

I remember that about the old system's self generated thumbs. It must be why I like the way the ones here look so much. They're very easy to see. :5magnify: :) :new_smile-l:
Another reason I like this is that I've gotten tired of making them myself.

How does someone abuse thumbnails? I guess I'm not sure what you are referring to.

Perhaps they are refering to a few artist who posted a certain thumbnail image and what was depicted on the thumb was totally different than the image.. Like having a thumb of a jolly santa and when you open the picture there is a image of a guy in a santa suit ripping someone apart..
I am being extreme here but only to make a point.
At the old site it was a given rule that the thumb displayed must be part of the full sized image...
However in the series section many of the series artist, myself included began using the same thumb for the entire set of images we posted for a given chapter.. this saved us time as some of us would post 1-2 dozen images and not having to generate a different thumb made it easier for the series artist to upload thier story..
With auto thumbs we wil return to what you see is what you get.. and I have no problem with that at all...

I just posted an image to christen my gallery here, it's an older one and mainly to see how my own artwork displays. So my thoughts are:
-:icon_evil: I seriously don't like how pixellated the auto generated thumbs look . ( LOVE the 120 on a page option though !! )
-I just plain don't like WYSIWYGness of the full thumbs. I liked the tease and the lure of a partial thumb. I liked making them for myself and enjoyed when others did it well. As to those that 'abused' thumbs (screws, hammers, fingertraps come to mind, lol ) ... a minority and I just ignored them anyway.
Pleeeeze can we have the choice of which to do :crying: Now it's just like looking at the gallery in miniature and how many people aren't even going to bother opening in full a lot of the images now I wonder.
I don't :eusa_shhh:
Will it be the same in Premier ?
-Imo it is a disadvantage to not have the image open at full rez. Yes , I know you can click for that, ( nice that it opens in the same window now) but I think it does images a disservice to not have them shown at their best upon immediate opening.
:doubt: However I'll hold back expanding on that particular rant further for when our Premier works get ported over and we see how that works.

When browsing the galleries now I just click on the high res option under the thumbnail where it says "Dimensions". This opens the full res image, in a new tab/window but I find that convenient. The downside for the artist is that this does not count as a view.

haha... quite right... quite right you are. I'll be one of the first ones to take advantage of the thumbnail option 4 sure.

Plus the *current* system pretty much negates any benefit to the category filters. What's the point of setting the filters if you can still see the images?
I don't like Scat, golden showers and graphic violence. Yet I saw several images depicting the victims of a firing squad. Real buzz kill for me.

Well that will be very, very bad for Premier artists then. I suggest that gets fixed pronto.
