Hi everybody,

Sorry about the spelling...

I'm new here :happy3: I left Renderosity after many years after having two of my images banned and removed. They clearly violated their TOS wich I probably accepted, without reading it (like the tons of other 200 page TOS'es, that I've accepted blindly over the years). So I started reading this sites TOS. Clear and acceptable to me. No kids and no animals. I can take consorship like like that... Even though the narrowminded, could say that my "Little Red Ridinghood" image contains a young girl, a wolf and some sexual undertones (like the story...). I don't think it'll disturb anybody here

Now to the subject in the title. I am a danish VFX-artist and have worked with computer imaging for 25 years. When I saw Poser the first time I was amazed. After a while I started doing pinups, but I was to embarresed to show them to anybody. I really liked doing them though, and after a while the situations in my images also had sex in them. Didn't show those to anybody either...

Some of the Poser art is trully amazing. And to me it is a lot more "art" than some of the widely accepted art. A couple of weeks ago I decided to find out what art really is. Wikipedia is my source of any info, and according to them:

"Art is the process or product of deliberately and creatively arranging elements in a way that appeals to the senses or emotions."

One could say that porn fits this very well. Other definitions emphacize the word "deliberately", meaning that the artist must consider his work "art" in the process of making it, to fit the definition. That leaves out porn in some cases, though guys like Alex-D is clearly art. I personally consider my work art... Some people like it, some don't, like with any other art.

Have any of you artist tried to exhibit your work as art? What were the reactions?

I'd love to make some large prints of some of my images and try to show them to some galleries. Any experiences that you want to share?

Finally this site rocks! So much inspiration. And I love watching the numbers in my gallery to see peoples reactions to the images. Wich ones works, wich ones doesn't? I love the internet! I used to cheat directors, saying that it isn't hard to make a TV-commercial. It just has to contain beautiful women and helicopters in slowmo, because that always looks great. According to a unoficial poll in a danish newspaper 95% of the men answering used porn on a regular basis, but even more amazing: 90% of the women did. And they didn't only use soft porn. No sir, they also wanted bang for the bucks...

That left me with an Idea. There simply must be a huge market for erotic art, once it's more widely accepted. Now is a great time to work on that!!!

Hi to all. Love my new home :happy3:

PS. I've noticed that one of my images has been used as thumbnail for the "Flying Solo" category. I'm deeply honnored! I really appreciate that :)

Welcome, I'm glad you've appreciated the difference between 'rosity and here. The TOS here is a little more liberal than theirs ;).

However, we do have guidelines about Children. Verboten, forbidden etc. Nope, nada, nein!.

Children must never appear in your images; even in a non-sexual context. Rule of thumb is to make your humans appear to be older than 21.

Animals may appear in an image; just not in a sexual context.

No people doing animals; no animals doing people. End of story.

Aliens / Mythical creatures are an execption to the rule; but don't just paint a horse green; if it never existed on planet earth except in fiction or fantasy, its ok, otherwise Nope.

If I can do anything to make your stay here better; let me know :)

Kind regards

/SC

Thx. I'll behave :happy3: I hate seeing children abused, and I respect animals as thinking feeling creatures (even ants...). There are several other taboos that you can use in your art. Let's keep children and animals out of our wicked art.

I just want to show people art, with sexual content, that creates debate, and arouse feelings. Both good and bad. And show some sides of sexuality that needs tought. Like my image "Kiss Me Tiger". I've allways found myself a hypocrit, not really wanting to kiss her, alltough I appreciated what she just did for me. There must be other men having the same feeling, and it must tell women a lot about us hypocrits...

Children and animals don't belong in that world. It's for grown up, free behaving, human beings! (Having fun...)

@EDBBOB: There was a very interesting thread discussion regarding "what art is/isn't" at the old site a few months back (in September?). A lot of members here new and old gave their opinion about what is and what's not. You might want to check it out.

There is a saying in the photography world that the difference between art and porn is lighting.

I always thought the difference between art and porn is between the legs... If something is happening down there, it's porn. Otherwise it's art.

Hopefully one doesn't rule out the other. I've been reading the post about getting turned on by the images on this site. Some my images are intended to be porn taken out of it's context. Making it art, I think. A little bit like the guy who found a brick at the road on his way to an art exhibition, and said: "Look this is my art!". According to the definition of art he was right. Not good art, but art none the less...

A judge made this distinction once in some case that I totally forgot about. I think it had to do with some book which contained pictures of nudists including young teens. If that book was considered art, it would be legal. If it was considered porn, the publisher would have been guilty for publishing child porn. But the judge made a smart decision by just calling it art since it were just a bunch of nude persons doing daily things like normal people. Just without clothes.

But how about porn? Well, Larry Flynt made sure porn became legal in the USA, as long as it was made under certain rules. (Like: adults only.) As a result, pornography did become some kind of art by itself. It's just that many people don't even realize that porn is art. But maybe that's because there's just so much porn available. But porn is art. Yet, art isn't porn.
