Hi all,
First time poster and pretty new to Daz3d.
Anyone who has tried to use tanlines with a 3rd-party custom genital library has probably run into this problem:
BEFORE TREATMENT: Sharp, obvious contrast
AFTER TREATMENT (No Photoshop): Still not perfect, but much less obvious
This tip/trick will hopefully help anyone who is trying to use Meipe's Dicktator with Wet And Tanned Skins For Genesis 8 Male(s) (WATSG8M) (https://www.daz3d.com/wet-and-tanned-skins-for-genesis-8-males). NOTE: This is not a universal FIX, but it will hopefully help you if you're running into this problem.
The tanline is nicely applied to the pelvic area, but at the pubis it all goes wrong. It's nothing that Photoshop can't fix, but it would be annoying to have to fix every render. Plus, it's not exacly a quick (under 5 min) fix in Photoshop.
I took a look at the Dicktator surface(s) settings. Go to the Surfaces pane, then in the Editor tab select Dicktator Genetalia > Torso_Front. These are the default settings.
By changing these settings to this, I am able to improve the look and make the contrast less obvious. Basically, I set the Translucency Color image map to None, and I reduce the Translucency Weight (in this case I used 0.23, but in general I've been adjusting between 0.15 - 0.45). You'll also want to adjust the translucency color depending on your characters skin tone. In this case the default white works well enough
And now, with about 30 seconds of healing brush in Photoshop, I get this, a pretty believable tan line:
