First things first. 


No matter how fun the new skeleton structure is to use, we need a good base library of poses and expressions. Showcase, interaction with other people, and everyday poses usable for comics/sequences, you name it. In G8 Thunder-3D poses were the best and I really wished they would have released a broader variety of poses for males and females alike, aside from mature content.

I'm hard at work on the new version of USM right now, for G8-8.1 and G9. I am already tinkering with expressions as well and plan to get a lot of G9 expressions out as soon as possible, because the new face rig looks amazing :)


As for poses, I'm finding a lot of improvements in the bends on the new figure, and a few things I'm really not thrilled with, however I'm hoping those issues will be fixable once they launch the official face and body morph packs.


As far as body poses, I'll be working up lots of new stuff for G9, however I'm quickly realizing that it may be some time before G9 is in a state that it's truly "usable" for most people, This happened with G3, then G8, then 8.1. It just takes time to get enough clothes, hair, characters etc. before a new figure starts getting used heavily.


Basically, if I can't reliably create good promo art with the figures, what that tells me is it's a bit early to start pushing out new pose sets. But I'll have plenty of stuff ready to go as soon as the G9 "ecosystem" is ready to render, which hopefully won't be too far away :D

I have some great ideas I've been wanting to add to the "Showcase" line that also included a lot of male poses, many of these are done on G8, and I plan to produce those for G9 as well :)

I see, that makes sense.


I'm not sure how much the autofit scripts would help, but for my work, the newer stuff works just fine. Except for shoes, shoes never work without trouble from one generation to another. I figured that for Gen8 the male expressions could be used for non-sexual purposes also and were fine to mix with other expressions. For some reason, the female expressions on the other hand had the tendency to go nuts, when I used them with other expressions. I hope that in Gen9 the morphs won't interfere this much.

Yeah. USM Is one of the things I'm looking forward to too. And maybe this time around we can toy with even more. I like to abuse such tools for a lot of stuff. Especially now with the new L.I.E. functions.
