It is with deep sadness that we must inform you that Andrew, the owner of CGbytes Inc., has passed. Andrew was a dear friend and colleague to the entire CGbytes family and he will be sorely missed. It was through Andrew’s vision and leadership that the CGbytes family of sites have grown to the amazing offering we all enjoy today and we are grateful to him for sharing so generously of his time and talents.
The CGbytes team would like to ensure all customers and artists that Andrew’s vision will continue into the future. Over the past year, Andrew had already stepped away from day-to-day duties of the site and the same amazing team he put in place will continue to operate all of the CGbytes Inc. sites.
We would like to express our heartfelt gratitude to all of our customers, artists, and friends as we grieve together for our lost loved one.
Andrew had an ambitious road map for the future, and we will continue to bring new content, technology, and innovation to this marketplace as he would have wanted.
Sincerely,
The CGbytes Family Edited by moderator Tuesday, October 12, 2021 9:05:19 PM(UTC)

Wow! That's sad. My condolences to his family and friends. How did he pass? Was he sick? Was it old age? Lighting the way to the dark side

When I heard this news, I was among friends that also knew him, and I decided to send him one last skype message:
"andrew, you silly bugger, what did you do now? We miss you! Come back. Thanks for all the good times. I hope you get to see the DD3 in heaven. lali still has naughty to show you. Thank you for making me. Thank you for having existed. Farewell."
I feel awful. Absolutely gutted. I sent him my renders back in 2012, he suggested that I make comics, and so I did. If it wasn't for him, there would be no Lali, there would be no Lali's Bits, or Project Evolution. He inspired many ideas in me, as well as many more of us. I have him to thank for who I am now. I will miss him. ______ "The fool is not the one that does something foolish, but the one that does nothing at all"

Andrew and I have been friends for some years now, longer then I've worked here to be exact, But it was because of that friendship that I even decided to come on as staff and help out around here (under my other name) and through these years Andrew has both helped me and taught me more then I can put down here in words.
Just as Pat (UncleSickey Played a huge part of me sticking around the 3D community all these years, Andrew played a huge role in me actually becoming a vendor, moving over to using Daz Studio and ultimately creating the characters I make now, and I can't thank him enough.
He also introduced me to Skyrim (Which quickly became one of my favorite games lol0 and the "Nexus" mod website, and while it DID create a lax in my work performance for a bit years ago he never bitched since he knew it was sort of his fault lol.
I can't stress enough just how fleeting time really is, those you have in your life that you are close with, cherish the time you have with them, because you truly never know when your last words with them will REALLY be your last words.
Goodbye Andrew, thank you for all the times, and talks we had, thanks for beating things into my head, Thanks for having the utter patience in dealing with my crazy ass lol, but most of all, thanks for what you built up here since you took over the site, so many lives here have been touched and changed directly thanks to your vision and direction of these communities.
I only hope we all can continue to do you proud here.

Oh that is very sad.
Rest in peace Andrew and my condolences to his family and close friends.
I did not know him very well and when we had contact it was mostly about business, but he was always very friendly and helpful and a nice person to talk to.
CGBytes/Renderotica was the the place I started to sell my products first in 2013 and Andrew always had good suggestions for products or how to market them better.
He helped me a lot to settle as vendor with hints and advice. I am very thankful for all this.

I'm stunned.....Beyond words....All I can hope is that his passing was peaceful and with grace. While I've only known him from the internet and here, he was a good and honest Friend. We will not see his like again, for now, his watch has ended. (Sorry for stealing this, but it seems the only words that have the emotion I feel.)
I'll see you on the other side Andrew, save me a good seat.

As a vendor, this site has given me the opportunity to do what I love and earn money, Andrew's vision gives me still that chance. Too bad I didn't thank you in life. Rest in peace and may your friends and family receive my condolences. Thanks again Andrew

So sorry. I knew the name EhJay, of course, and can only say thanks to him for providing a friendly and open-minded environment with just the right level of control. I hope his end was peaceful and not traumatic for either him or those who loved him.
