The creative process is often filled with moments of inspiration and experimentation. Consequently, most of the renders I generate never get published and remain unseen and abandoned in my DAZ render folder. My sketchbook is a place where on reflection renders that were once abandoned get a second chance and this gallery offers a unique insight into my creative process.
This exhibition features a wide range of renders, from quick doodles to more detailed studies, and it is a work in progress constantly being updated. There are some great works in here too. Some of the studies you will recognise from work published in the Renderotica.com gallery. Many are only unpublished to maintain continuity, some due to only two competition entries allowed, some of them I failed to notice how good they were at the time of creation.
One of the things that I wanted to convey through this exhibition is the importance of a sketchbook approach to the creative process. It’s very rare that an artist will create a good piece of work without any supporting ideas or dare I say it, failed attempts. Watch as I experiment with different compositions, play with colour, materials, lights and explore different techniques. This experimentation is a critical part of my creative process, as it allows me to push beyond my comfort zone and discover new possibilities.
