Hi there,

I post this here, but it may be of general interest.

I need to explain to a DAZ novice user a super simple way on how to install DAZ content on a MAC. I have already explained how to use the Content Library Manager to find the active libraries, and that data and Runtime folders of the zip and of the active MyLibrary need to be merged. I have also pointed out that on a Mac you need to use the Command key to merge folders, or use the ditto command.

But we always finish with this situation:

MyLibrary/data/data/myproductfolders

instead of:

MyLibrary/data/myproductfolders

I have posted images but obviously I'm not clear enough. Please help! Have any suggestion of the very simplest way to expain a clean installation on a Mac?

I am a Mac User and this is my method of manually adding content to DAZ

1. Locate your "My Library" folder and COPY the unarchived contents of your product by dragging and dropping whilst holding down the "alt" button.

2. A dialogue will appear:

DO NOT PRESS RETURN OR CLICK ON "REPLACE"
This is very, very important – if you do it will delete everything you have in any matching folders.

Instead click on "Apply to All" and then (carefully) click on "MERGE":

You may need to refresh your content library (alt-click on "My Library" and select "refresh" from the context menu) or restart Daz to see you new items.

GOOD LUCK!

They're the same thing. Current versions of Studio call that folder 'My DAZ3D Library', earlier versions called it 'My Library'. Yes it can be confusing and yes it causes all kinds of install problems. Anything that you download that has a folder called My Library should have all of its contents installed into your My DAZ3D Library folder.

I swear I tried all these. Thanks for the screen grabs.

Any chance you can do a YouTube tutorial for Mac? Or if there is one (I did look) could you navigate me to it?

Thank You.

I don't have a mac to do a videotutorial, but if you feel comfortable installing with DAZ Install Manager, I can convert the zip for you, in order to install it on your machine with this tool. Only, I'm not at home this week, and I don't have all of my zips here.

So, you should send at [email protected]:

-the zip you purchased
-the purchase reference

I just got back into using the DAZ PROGRAM and I am now using the MacBook Pro, (I am a PC for life fan), but the situation is more-so forcing me to use this thing at this moment. I have read through your instructions on how to install the resources into a mac. . . Trust me, half of it seems to work and the rest is still up in the air. It took several tries to install it to where the program will see that the presets are there, but they are not showing up on the model. . . it is still blank. I have watched a few youtube tutorials on what could be wrong, but it still is not operational. I have noticed that 2 files seem to have no place to go from the zipped file and they are "MANIFEST. DSX' & 'SUPPLEMENT.DSX'. I believe these have a place, and the folder they are in is the "CONTENT" folder before the "DATA" folder, but when you look at the heirachy. When I try to load the 'Graft Selector' it responds that it 'GOLDEN GRAFT SHELL NOT FOUND REMEMBER TO LOAD IT ON G8F FIRST'
